KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 12): Mercedes-Benz Malaysia Sdn Bhd said sales volume rose 8.6% to an all-time high at 11,779 vehicles in 2016 from 10,845 units a year earlier, spearheaded by C-Class sales.  

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia sales and marketing vice president Mark Raine said today the C-Class model saw 4,762 units sold. Raine said the company's 17 vehicle launches in 2016 had further boosted total sales.

"Overall, 2016 was a stellar year in the history of Mercedes-Benz Malaysia. Our best month last year was in June, with 1,203 units sold. This is the first time we have breached the 11,000 mark, in terms of vehicle delivery," he said during Mercedes-Benz Malaysia's full-year performance media briefing today.
 
According to Raine, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia's 11,779 sales volume in 2016 placed the company's market share in the premium automive segment at 2.4%.

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia is a joint venture between Daimler AG and Cycle & Carriage Bintang Bhd. 

At Bursa Malaysia, Cycle & Carriage Bintang shares have not been traded so far today. Yesterday, the stock closed at RM2.93 for a market value of RM295.2 million.
