KUALA LUMPUR: Maybank Investment Bank Bhd (Maybank IB) has appointed Maestro Capital Sdn Bhd founder Fad’l Mohamed (pic) as its deputy chief executive officer (CEO), confirming an earlier report by The Edge Financial Daily.

Fad’l, who started his career as a lawyer with Rashid & Lee, was previously the managing director of Maestro Capital, a licensed corporate finance advisory firm focusing primarily on mergers and acquisitions, fundraising and initial public offering, which he founded in 2004.

He also served in other organisations including the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC), Dresdner Kleinwort Benson and CIMB-Principal Asset Management Bhd, and is currently a director of the Kuala Lumpur Business Club.

“We are delighted to have Fad’l on board. With his vast experience in investment banking and strong corporate network, we are confident that Fad’l will be able to further strengthen Maybank IB’s leadership position,” said Maybank IB CEO John Chong in a statement yesterday.

The Edge Financial Daily on Feb 26, 2015 reported that Maestro Capital had submitted back its corporate licence to the SC following Fad’l’s departure, while a majority of Fad’l’s team in the corporate finance advisory outfit will also be joining Maybank IB.
