KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 25): Maxwell International Holdings Bhd's external law firm in Malaysia, Messrs Dennis Nik & Wong, has discharged itself as the company's solicitor in relation to legal cases against its subsidiary Jinjiang Zhenxing Shoes & Plastics Co Ltd (JZSP) amounting to RMB272.18 million (RM163.71 million).

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, the Practice Note 17 China-based shoe maker said the law firm had discharged itself after no documents, information and/or instructions were provided to it to enable it to conduct a review and advise the company on litigation matters involving Maxwell and its group of companies.

On July 31 last year, Maxwell announced that it has been made aware of 14 cases that were filed against JZSP.

Hence, Maxwell appointed the law firm to carry out a thorough review of the litigation cases and proposed future steps to address the litigations.

Maxwell shares have been suspended from trading on May 14 this year as the group did not submit its annual report for its financial year ended Dec 31, 2017 by the April 30 deadline.
