KUALA LUMPUR (March 13): Maxis Bhd has teamed up with Malaysia Digital Economy Corp's (MDec) Internet of things (IoT) solution providers to further strengthen the IoT ecosystem for businesses by offering innovative solutions.

Under the collaboration, Maxis will leveraging on its IoT solutions, with the backing of its 4G network.

“With Maxis’ proven track record in the IoT space and expertise via our partnership with Vodafone, solution providers that collaborate with us can potentially widen their customer base. Together, we can build awareness on the benefits of IoT solutions and bridge the gap between customers’ needs and the solutions available from partners,” said Maxis’ head of business solutions, enterprise Claire Featherstone in a statement.

Maxis’ IoT offerings include mDrive, a fleet tracking solution which is used internally for its own business operations. This tracking solution enables businesses to reduce cost and promotes safer driving habits within the fleet management of a company.

According to Vodafone’s annual global survey IoT Barometer, companies in Asia-Pacific are gaining momentum with IoT adoption, faster than the global average; from just 12% in 2013 to 36% in 2017, compared with global IoT adoption of 29%.

Asia-Pacific companies that have adopted IoT are seeing increased competitiveness and improved brand differentiation, said Maxis.

The IoT Barometer also highlighted that IoT adopters are digital leaders; 76% of these adopters are seen as one of the most innovative players in their market.
