KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 20): Maserati’s first SUV — the Levante – has made its debut in Malaysia with a starting price of RM888,800.

“Maserati’s first entry into the SUV segment has the poise and power to exceed expectations and set it apart from its peers,” said Naza World Group executive chairman Datuk SM Faisal SM Nasimuddin.

Naza Italia Sdn Bhd, a unit of Naza World Group, is the official importer and distributor of the diesel-powered vehicle.

“The Levante has been eagerly awaited and will no doubt be a popular new addition to Malaysia’s luxury automotive market,” Faisal said in a statement today.

He said the Levante is based on the evolution of Maserati’s sedan platform and provides the smooth handling and refined characteristic of the brand’s saloons on-road whilst also proving impressively capable off-road.

It is equipped with the latest version of Maserati’s three-litre V6 engines, he added.

“The Malaysian market will get to enjoy the frugal turbodiesel version with reduced dwell time injectors, capable of 275 hp and delivering 0-100 km per hour in 6.9 seconds. With a maximum speed of 230 km per hour, it still manages to keep the fuel economy as low as 7.2 litres per 100 km,” said Faisal.
