KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 26): Malaysia Airlines has confirmed that its Domain Name System (DNS) had been compromised where users are re-directed to a hacker website when www.malaysiaairlines.com URL is keyed in.

However, in a statement today the airline denied that its website had been hacked and assured its customers that the temporary glitch would not affect their bookings and that user data remains secured.

“At this stage, Malaysia Airlines’ web servers are intact.

“The airline has resolved the issue with its service provider and the system is expected to be fully recovered within 22 hours.

“The matter has also been immediately reported to CyberSecurity Malaysia and the Ministry of Transport,” it said.

It was earlier reported by The Malaysian Insider that hackers allegedly linked to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (Isis) militant group today broke into the website of Malaysia Airlines.

"Plane not found," said a message on the front page of the national airline's website at www.malaysiaairlines.com this morning, signed off as "Cyber Caliphate", as a rap song played in the background.

The website title was also changed to "Isis will prevail".
