KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 9): Malaysian Airline System Bhd (MAS) had on Sept 8 approved the appointment of Mohd Izani Ashari to its board as a non-independent non-executive director, a filing to Bursa Malaysia revealed today.

Mohd Izani was nominated by MAS' major shareholder Khazanah Nasional Bhd via a letter to the airline's board on Sept 2.

According to Khazanah’s website, Mohd Izani is an executive director— special projects at the managing director’s office of the sovereign wealth fund. He joined Khazanah in April 2009.

Mohd Izani has 26 years of working experience mainly with multi-nationals and large companies including Shell, Maybank, Sime Darby, Petronas and MAS, covering six different industries.

He spent 16 years of his career in organisation transformation / reengineering where he played a significant role, according to Khazanah.

Mohd Izani holds a Masters Degree in Construction Management from Reading University, UK and Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying from John Moores University, Liverpool, UK.
