KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 27): Malaysia Airlines will be suspending all flights between Kuala Lumpur and Denpasar-Bali tomorrow (Nov 28) after an eruption at Mount Agung.

All AirAsia and AirAsia X flights in and out of Bali have been cancelled.

In a statement today, MAS said the national carrier will allow a full refund on all refundable/non-refundable tickets for passengers who are ticketed on or before Nov 27 and Nov 28, for travel to or from Denpasar between Nov 27 and Dec 11, 2017.

However, tickets must be submitted for refund at the very latest by Dec 11, 2017, said Malaysia Airlines.

The affected passengers will get an option to change their destination (subject to seat availability and fare difference) to Jakarta, Surabaya or any ASEAN destination on MAS’ network, provided that the travel must be completed by Feb 28, 2018 and no refund is permitted for any residual value (if any) upon the change of travel destination, or to defer their travel but travel must be completed by Feb 28, 2018.

Malaysia Airlines will continue to monitor the situation and resume flights into and out of Denpasar as soon as it receives confirmation on improved weather conditions, said the airlines.

The airline will also provide periodic updates regarding the situation via SMS, website (www.malaysiaairlines.com) as well as on its social media platforms (Facebook and Twitter), said MAS.

On the other hand, AirAsia Bhd has informed that Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali is temporarily closed today, hence all AirAsia and AirAsia X flights in and out of Bali have been cancelled.

In addition, the low-cost carrier said flights from and to Lombok remain cancelled today and further information will be released once available.

The affected guests will be notified of their flight status via email and SMS, said AirAsia

AirAsia strongly encourages all guests to update their contact details at airasia.com to ensure that they are notified of any updates to their flights.

AirAsia said guests whose flights were cancelled are entitled to either change to a new travel time on the same route within 30 calendar days from the original flight time without additional cost and subject to seat availability or to retain the value of your fare in a credit account for future travel with AirAsia.

The online Credit Account is to be redeemed within 90 calendar days from the date of issuance, said AirAsia.

Shares in AirAsia closed six sen lower or 1.9% at RM3.10 today with 8.32 million shares traded for a market capitalisation of RM10.36 billion. Year-to-date, the stock has jumped 45.2% from RM2.14.

AirAsia X’s shares dropped 0.5 sen to 35.5 sen with 5.37 million shares changing hands for a market capitalisation of RM1.49 billion.
