KUALA LUMPUR (April 21): Malindo Air has received the International Air Transportation Association's (IATA) membership certificate following IATA's safety audit on the airline.

Malindo Air chief executive officer Chandran Rama Muthy said in a statement today the IATA Operational Safety Audit had earlier certified the safety of Malindo's operations.

"As a premium service airline, we will be able to create better values and achieve more by being an IATA member. We have continued to set ourselves at par with the international aviation standard, and we hope to raise the bar collectively with our partners in the industry," Chandran said.

IATA said on its website it is a trade association for global airlines. IATA said it represents about 270 airlines, which accounts for 83% of world air traffic.
