KUALA LUMPUR (July 4): Malaysia administered 217,807 doses of Covid-19 vaccine yesterday (July 3), down from 236,196 vaccine doses administered on July 2, according to data from the Covid-19 Vaccine Supply Access Guarantee Special Committee (JKJAV) today.

Of the 217,807 doses given out, 141,140 went to first-dose recipients, while the remainders went to 76,667 second-dose recipients, JKJAV shared via Twitter.

The seven-day moving average for Covid-19 vaccination stood at 224,822, compared to 220,546 the day before.

Also as of yesterday, a total of 8.8 million vaccine doses had been administered so far, with 2.54 million Malaysians or 7.8% of the population fully vaccinated, while 3.72 million or 19.2% had received their first jab.

Sarawak, which remained as the state with the highest cumulative number of first doses administered, now had 1.18 million or 41.8% of its population as first-dose recipients, followed by Kuala Lumpur at 1.12 million or 63.4% and Selangor at 1.06 million or 16.3%.

For second doses, Selangor led with 342,667 shots given out for 5.2% of its population, followed by Sarawak at 278,528 or 9.9% of its population.

The country's new Covid-19 cases came in at 6,658 yesterday, with 107 deaths reported, pushing the death tally to 5,677.

Active cases climbed further to 69,958, as daily recoveries came in lower than daily infections at 5,677. Malaysia's cumulative Covid-19 infections detected rose to 772,607, with total recoveries at 700,215.
