KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 23): Malaysia’s daily Covid-19 vaccine doses administered rose to 321,342 yesterday (Sept 22) from 261,255 the day before.

Of the total doses given out yesterday, 121,631 individuals received their first shot, while the remaining 199,711 received their second jab, according to the latest updates on Twitter today by the country’s Special Committee for Ensuring Access to Covid-19 Vaccine Supply (JKJAV), citing data from the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF).

As of yesterday, a total of 41.25 million Covid-19 vaccine doses had been administered in the nation.

A total of 22.35 million people or 68.4% of the population had received at least the first shot as of yesterday, including 18.99 million or 58.1% who were fully inoculated.

In terms of the adult population, 93.3% had received at least the first jab, including 81% who were fully vaccinated.

For the Klang Valley, comprising Selangor, Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur, about 7.11 million recipients or 84.4% of its total population had received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine as of yesterday.

Of this, 6.65 million persons or 79% of the Klang Valley's population were fully vaccinated.

For the daily number of first doses administered, Sabah led the nation with 24,516 jabs, followed by Johor (16,502) and Kedah (11,322).

As for second doses, Johor topped the pile with 35,208 shots, followed by Perak (24,792) and Pahang (20,296).

Malaysia saw 14,990 new Covid-19 cases yesterday, bringing the country’s cumulative infections to 2.14 million.

Meanwhile, 487 deaths were reported, raising the nation’s total Covid-19 linked fatalities to 24,565 so far.
