KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 20): Malaysia's confirmed daily number of new Covid-19 cases climbed to a record high of 28,825 on Saturday (Feb 19) from 27,808 a day earlier, the Ministry of Health said.

These brought the nation's total number of infections to 3.19 million since the pandemic began in early 2020, according to the ministry.

The previous record high daily figure of fresh pandemic cases of 27,831 was reported on Wednesday.

For Saturday, the ministry said 18,514 individuals were reported to have recovered from Covid-19.

They brought the cumulative number of persons who had recovered from Covid-19 to 2.92 million so far, according to the ministry.

Meanwhile, 34 Covid-19-linked deaths were reported on Saturday, including 12 brought-in-dead cases, the ministry noted.

These brought the total number of Covid-19-related fatalities in Malaysia to 32,310, the ministry said.
