KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 28): Malaysia reported today four Covid-19-related deaths and 1,315 new confirmed cases of the coronavirus, health director-general (DG) Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said on Facebook today.
He said the four Covid-19-related deaths brought the cumulative number of fatalities in the country so far to 354 cases.
Meanwhile, the 1,315 new cases reported brought the cumulative number of infected individuals to 63,176 persons, according to Noor Hisham.
In a separate statement, the health DG said that out of the 1,315 new infections, 1,310 were local transmissions, while only five were imported cases.
This, he added, brought the total number of active Covid-19 cases in the country so far to 11,508.
"As of now, there are 118 Covid-19 positive patients being treated in the intensive care unit (ICU),” Noor Hisham said. Out of the 118 patients, 43 cases required breathing assistance, according to him.
On the other hand, the four Covid-19-related deaths today were all reported in Sabah. The deceased comprised two men, one woman and a four-year old girl.
On another note, 1,110 individuals were reported to have recovered from Covid-19 today, according to Noor Hisham.
The 1,110 recoveries brought the cumulative number of fully-recovered cases in the country so far to 51,314, he added.
In geographical terms, the health DG said among the states, Sabah reported the highest number of daily new cases at 476, followed by Selangor and Kuala Lumpur at 266 and 191 respectively.
According to him, among the five new imported cases, one was detected in Selangor, while the other four were reported in Kuala Lumpur.
