KUALA LUMPUR (July 31): Malaysia's producer price index (PPI) for local production rose 0.1% year-on-year (y-o-y) in June 2018 due to increases in the mining segment besides the electricity and gas supply portion of the PPI.

The Statistics Department said today the PPI's mining segment increased 33.1% while the electricity and gas supply portion climbed 1.3%.

On a monthly basis, the PPI for local production fell 0.7% in June 2018, according to the department.

The PPI's 0.1% y-o-y rise in June 2018 followed a 0.4% decrease in May 2018, the department said.
