KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 11): Malaysia and Cambodia inked a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to expand both countries' green-technology collaboration.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, who witnessed the signing ceremony today, said the the MOU would strengthen ties between both countries as they collaborated in green technology research and development.

"The existing strong ties (between the two countries) will further strengthen by the signing of the MOU between the government of Malaysia and the royal government of Cambodia. This is an ongoing cooperation in the field of green technology and is sure to promote the development of product and services to the benefit of both Malaysia and Cambodia.

"I look forward to similar collaborations with other Asean nations as it is vital that we maximise the potential this huge market offers, especially as we move towards becoming an Asean community by the end of the year," said Najib, who officiated at the International Greentech & Eco Products Exhibition & Conference Malaysia 2015 here.

Energy, Green Technology and Water Minister Datuk Seri Maximus Ongkili signed the MOU on behalf of Malaysia. Cambodia Environment Minister Say Samal represented the country.

The International Greentech & Eco Products Exhibition & Conference is also a platform for other collaborations.

Pertubuhan Peladang Kawasan Pendang Selatan and Free The Seed Sdn Bhd also signed an MOU for the conversion rice husk into high-value biodegradable packaging products.

The event also saw another MoU between Prasarana Malaysia Bhd and CMS Consortium Sdn Bhd for the expansion of the COMOS electric vehicle car-sharing programme.
