SEPANG (May 13): Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) has leased two Renault Zoe Electric Vehicle (EV) to be used and tested at Kuala Lumpur International Airport as part of its long-term plans in reducing carbon emission.

The airport operator in a statement today said the move was also part of the plans in optimising operational costs and sustaining the current Airport Carbon Accreditation at Level 3-Optimisation that was certified by the Airport Council International (ACI).

MAHB said it was looking forward to increasing the number of EVs if data compiled from the current usage proves favourable.

The EV can store energy capacity lasting up to 210km of travel distance before recharging it for an hour for the next usage.

"Malaysia Airports aims to replace the currently leased fuel cars to EVs as they can contribute to the reduction of 19,000 kg carbon dioxide emission produced per car per year,” it said.
