KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 28): Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd's (MAHB) move to adopt the Alipay cashless-payment platform is a major step to embrace the future of retail and food and beverage (F&B) transactions at its airports.
In a statement today, MAHB managing director Datuk Badlisham Ghazali said the adoption of Alipay is also in line with Malaysia Airports' effort to move towards a highly-digitised airport environment.
“We are continuously looking to enhance the airport experience for all our customers. Thus, to embark on the Alipay cashless payment platform is a major step taken by MAHB to embrace the future of retail and F&B transactions at its airports.
"To date, 55.8% and 56.7% outlets at Kuala Lumpur International Airport and klia2 respectively are transacting via Alipay. So far, we have seen a 25% increase in sales from overall Alipay transactions at both terminals. During shopping campaign period, sales can increase further by 35% to 40%,” Badlisham said.
He said Alipay enables customers to undertake transactions in yuan in a highly-secured manner, without having exchange rate concerns.
At Bursa Malaysia, MAHB shares settled at RM8.58 at 12:30pm, for a market value of RM14.37 billion. The stock saw 64,800 shares traded.
