KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 5): Malaysia Airlines will temporarily suspend its Kota Kinabalu-Shanghai-Kota Kinabalu flights effective Feb 18, 2020 until further notice due to the 2019 novel coronavirus outbreak.

In a statement on its website, Malaysia Airlines said that due to the rapid spread of the coronavirus, the State Government of Sabah has announced a temporary travel restriction for all flights from China into Sabah.

"Affected passengers holding confirmed bookings on MH394/395 of Kota Kinabalu-Shanghai-Kota Kinabalu from Feb 18 may opt for a full refund or reroute upon request via transit flights: Shanghai-Kuala Lumpur-Kota Kinabalu or Kota Kinabalu-Kuala Lumpur-Shanghai.

"Change and cancellation fees will be waived. To be eligible for this provision, tickets must be issued on or before Feb 3, 2020.

"Malaysia Airlines is closely monitoring this situation and will make the necessary adjustments if required," the airline said.
