KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 10): Malaysia Airlines Bhd's frequent flyer programme Enrich has partnered with LokaLocal, a home-grown travel marketplace.

In a joint statement today, Enrich and LokaLocal said the former will reward members when they participate in LokaLocal's tours and activities, which encompass cultural workshops, craft classes, heritage walks, cooking classes, private dining, adventure tours and social impact experiences.

"This initiative will expose global travellers to alternative travel options beyond the usual sights and sounds, in support of Visit Malaysia 2020," they said.

"To celebrate this partnership, members can earn 2 times miles when they book on the LokaLocal website from Dec 9, 2019 until Feb 9, 2020. Travel till June 30, 2020," they added.

Malaysia Airlines group chief marketing and customer experience officer Lau Yin May said it is important that it selects the suitable reward partner to collaborate with to ensure it delivers the right products and experiences to its members.

"With the partnership with LokaLocal, Enrich members will be able to create a once-in-a-lifetime experience, with guided tours and local activities organised by Malaysians," she added, noting that LokaLocal complements Malaysia Airline's brand promise of Malaysian Hospitality.

"This is in line with our Fly Malaysia campaign, where we promote Malaysia as the preferred destination for Visit Malaysia 2020 (VM2020)," Lau noted.

"LokaLocal's partnership with Enrich is a great way to elevate the experience of travellers coming to Malaysia," LokaLocal chief executive officer Chin Yoon Khen said.

LokaLocal is the largest marketplace in Malaysia focusing on connecting explorers to local experiences hosted by passionate locals, who aim to improve their outreach while creating job opportunities and preserving their cultures.

The company currently has more than 500 activities and day tours across various states in Malaysia and Laos. Transportation arrangement, accommodation and group bookings are also available on the website.

LokaLocal expects to unlock more local experience in multiple cities in 2020 as well as launch its mobile app by the end of February.
