KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 3): Malaysia Airlines Bhd (MAB) today launched its official presence via the WhatsApp Business solution to allow customers to receive flight status and booking confirmation through the messaging application.

More services will follow in the platform, including check-in, schedule and other operational notifications, MAB said in a statement today.

MAB is one of the first few airlines in the world and the first in Malaysia to integrate with the platform, said group chief executive officer Izham Ismail.

Other airlines include KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, which was the first airline to introduce the integration with WhatsApp in September last year.

“We are extremely excited to be the first in Malaysia and one of the first few airlines in the world to offer this new service on WhatsApp,” Izham said.

“The WhatsApp Business solution will enable us to reach out to more passengers, as WhatsApp is one of the most popular messaging applications with more than 1.5 billion users worldwide,” he added.

MAB’s entry into the Whatsapp Business is the airline’s fourth recently-announced digital solutions, after MHguardian, MHfeedback and MHchat which were introduced in April 2018.

Malaysia Airlines’ customers can opt in to this service by sending any WhatsApp message to the number 03-87774570 or by clicking on http://bit.ly/mhwhatsapp.
