KUALA LUMPUR (June 9):Malaysia administered the highest daily vaccination rate with 151,309 doses delivered yesterday, according to the latest data from the Covid-19 Vaccine Supply Access Guarantee Special Committee (JKJAV).

A total of 105,722 individuals received their first dose, while the remaining 45,587 received their second jab yesterday.

Cumulatively, 3.79 million Covid-19 vaccine doses had been administered thus far, with 2.61 million having their first dose and 1.18 million individuals having been fully vaccinated.

Kuala Lumpur remained the state with the highest number of individuals who had received their first dose at 446,172, followed by Selangor (379,119), Sarawak (256,044), Johor (239,184) and Perak (208,151).

Meanwhile, Selangor recorded 152,215 individuals who had completed their second dose of vaccination, followed by Sarawak (124,820), Perak (108,361), Johor (107,192) and Sabah (95,379).

Separately, Malaysia's new Covid-19 infections rose to 5,566 yesterday, following four days of decline, bringing the country's total cases to 627,652.

Covid-19 fatalities, however, remained below 100 for the third consecutive day, declining to 76 from 82 the day before. 

The number of patients in the intensive care unit (ICU), meanwhile, hit a record for the 15th straight day at 903, with more than half of them or 458 individuals placed on ventilators.
