KUALA LUMPUR (May 31): A total of 61,461 vaccine daily doses were administered throughout Malaysia yesterday, according to Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba’s Twitter post today. The figure is down 43% from 107,340 recorded on May 27, when Malaysia hit more than 100,000 doses for the first time. However, after that milestone, vaccination numbers fell to the 60,000 to 70,000 range in the next few days.

Based on data prepared by the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) today, 38,524 individuals have received their first dose while another 22,937 have received their second dose on May 30.

Overall, Malaysia has administered 2.913 million doses since the start of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme on Feb 24. From this total, 1.86 million individuals have received at least their first dose and 1.052 million have completed their vaccinations with two doses.

For the first dose, Kuala Lumpur led the country with 311,150 doses, followed by Selangor (258,602), Sarawak (192,918), Johor (170,243), and Perak (152,542).

As for those who have received their two-dose vaccinations, Selangor registered the highest number at 139,427, followed by Sarawak (109,934), Perak (97,558), Kuala Lumpur (94,399), and Johor (92,231).

Malaysia is currently administering three Covid-19 vaccines, namely Pfizer, Sinovac and AstraZeneca.

Bernama reported yesterday, more mega-sized vaccination centres (PPVs) will be set up in the Klang Valley to expand the capacity of dispensing vaccines from June 7.

According to National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme Minister Khairy Jamaluddin, three mega PPVs will be made available in Selangor and two more in Kuala Lumpur.

“In Selangor, we have three mega PPVs at The Mines, Puncak Alam UiTM and Setia City Convention Centre while in Kuala Lumpur, they are at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre and the compound of the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil,” Bernama reported Khairy as saying.
