KUALA LUMPUR (May 28): Malakoff Corp Bhd shares rose 2.50% in thin trade this morning after its first quarter ended March 31(1QFY19) net profit grew 26.6% to RM67 million from RM52.91 million a year ago, due to higher payments from electricity generation for its Tanjung Bin Power Sdn Bhd (TBP) and Tanjung Bin Energy Sdn Bhd (TBE) coal power plants.

At 9.20am,  Malakoff added 2 sen to 82 sen with 66,800 shares done.

Quarterly revenue rose by 25% to RM2.007 billion, from RM1.604 billion seen last year due to higher applicable coal price which saw higher payments for its coal power plants.
