(June 11): Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chief Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed has been urged by DAP to state his stand on the proposal to telecast live the committee's proceedings on 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).

Segambut MP Lim Lip Eng said Nur Jazlan had not responded to a letter written by him and his DAP colleague, Ipoh Timur MP Thomas Su, a week ago calling for PAC proceedings to be telecast live.

"We have asked him to seek leave or consent from the speaker to allow the proceedings to be telecast live," Lim said.

"He must now state publicly if he agrees with this proposal or has a different opinion.

Former deputy minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah previously also made a similar call, asking for PAC proceedings on 1MDB to be telecast live.

Lim had written a letter to Nur Jazlan on June 4, but said he had not received a response to date.

Saifuddin previously suggested that former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak should both appear in front of PAC so the public can finally hear what both have to say about the 1MDB crisis, in a controlled environment.

Last Friday, a supposed dialogue session between Najib and NGOs did not materialise after Dr Mahathir showed up at the same event and Najib did not attend citing security concerns.

Dr Mahathir took the stage instead, but had his speech stopped by police officers 10 minutes into his speech. – The Malaysian Insider
