KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 1): Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) said it continues to engage regularly with airline partners to discuss any rising operational and financial matters.

"In the case of the collection of the passenger service charges (PSCs), MAHB is working closely with all its major airline partners in resolving the payments," the airport operator said in a statement today.

"(We) value the relationship we have with all airline partners equally. We are constantly looking at ways to improve and enhance the billing and payment processes," added MAHB.

MAHB said the PSC is used for the maintenance and continuous enhancement of facilities and services at the airports.

The PSC is collected by the airlines upon purchase of tickets and is only paid to MAHB upon completion of the flight.

In his Facebook post yesterday, AirAsia Bhd group chief executive officer Tan Sri Tony Fernandes had called for new airports operators in Malaysia, adding that MAHB was “only interested in full service terminals".

Meanwhile, MAHB said it has launched a new online billing portal that is aimed at benefiting nearly 15,000 clients, vendors and business partners including the airlines.

"With this portal in place, the finance process for all our partners will be more efficient and transparent. Business partners will be provided with a unique ID that will allow them to access the portal and view information such as billing and payment dates.

"With this in place, we expect the collection process to be more effective for both our accounts department and our partners," it added.

MAHB shares closed three sen or 0.34% lower at RM8.72 today, with  5.5 million shares done, for a market capitalisation of RM14.47 billion.
