KUALA LUMPUR (June 28): Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) has appointed Ministry of Finance (MOF)’s deputy secretary general of treasury Datuk Johan Mahmood Merican as a non-independent and non-executive director of the company effective Wednesday (June 29). 

In a Bursa Malaysia filing on Tuesday (June 28), MAHB said Johan, 49, was the director of the national budget office from June 2018 to March 2022.

“He was also appointed as the Deputy Director General (Human Capital) of the Economic Planning Unit (EPU) in June 2016, where he was responsible for planning and overseeing initiatives relating to human capital. He also heads the Civil Service Delivery Unit and the National Transformation 2050 (TN50) unit.

“Prior to the above appointments, Datuk Johan was the Chief Executive Officer of Talent Corporation Malaysia Bhd (TalentCorp) since its inception in January 2011, where he was responsible for driving public private partnerships to meet the nation's talent needs.

“Between 2004 and 2010, Datuk Johan served as the Principal Private Secretary to the minister in the MOF and EPU,” MAHB said.

Johan also holds directorship in Petronas, Bintulu Port Holdings Bhd, Govco Holdings Bhd, MyDigital Corporation and Pengurusan Aset Air Bhd. 

Shares in MAHB closed five sen or 0.76% higher to RM6.59 on Tuesday, giving it a market capitalisation of RM10.93 billion.

Since the beginning of the year, the stock has risen by 10.39%.
