KUALA LUMPUR (Sep 10): Magni-Tech Industries Bhd rose as much as 7% after the Penang-based garment manufacturer proposed a bonus share issue following better first quarter financials.

Yesterday, Magni-Tech reported that net profit for its first quarter ended July 31, 2015 rose to RM15.57 million from RM10.08 million a year earlier.

The company also reported higher revenue at RM193.82 million from RM177.24 million.The group had proposed a bonus issue of up to 54.24 million new shares on the basis of one bonus unit for every two existing shares held.

Today, Magni-Tech shares rose to their highest so far today at RM4.70. At 10:30am, the shares pared gains at RM4.55 for a market capitalisation of RM493.6 million.

Magni-Tech, the sixth-largest gainer on Bursa Malaysia, saw 296,900 shares traded.
