PUTRAJAYA (Aug 25): The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) will conduct a comprehensive study to determine whether there were elements of corruption and abuse of power in relation to the alleged approval of 101 projects or government procurements worth RM6.61 billion through direct negotiations.

In a statement here today, the MACC said it would get from the Ministry of Finance (MoF) the list of 101 projects that were said to be given by direct negotiation under the previous administration.

“The MACC urges all parties to give ample space to this commission to look into the matter,” said the commission, which also confirmed receiving several memoranda from non-governmental organisations (NGOs) today over the issue.

Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz in Dewan Rakyat yesterday revealed that the country's administration, when led by Pakatan Harapan, had approved 101 government projects or procurements worth RM6.61 billion through direct negotiations.
