KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 19): Come Feb 11, 2019, Datuk Muhamad Umar Swift will assume the role of chief executive officer (CEO) at Bursa Malaysia Bhd as current CEO Datuk Seri Tajuddin Atan retires early.
Tajuddin, 59, was due to end his current term in March 2019. He has spent the last eight years at the helm of the local stock exchange.
Muhamad Umar, who is an Australian national, is currently the managing director and CEO of MAA Group Bhd. It is a post he has held since September 2006.
He is also a director of Columbus Capital Pty Ltd, MAA International Group and MAA General Assurance Philippines Inc, Bursa Malaysia said in a statement today.
Shares in Bursa Malaysia closed down 0.44% or 3 sen at RM6.82 today, giving it a RM5.51 billion market value.
