KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 25): Lysaght Galvanized Steel Bhd's net profit for the third quarter ended Sept 30, 2014 (3QFY14) slid 11.89% to RM3.44 million or 8.27 sen per share from RM3.90 million or 9.39 sen per share due to lower revenue and other income.

Revenue for the quarter slipped 3.12% to RM18.29 million from RM18.88 million, the company's filing to the local exchange this evening showed.

Nevertheless, Lysaght, which made headlines recently when it emerged that it was embroiled in a family tussle, declared a special interim single-tier dividend of 50 sen per share. The dividend will be paid on Dec 24.

For the cumulative nine months to Sept 30, 2014 (9MFY14), Lysaght's net profit slumped 32.52% to RM7.96 million or 19.14 sen per share from RM11.79 million or 28.36 sen per share a year ago. Revenue for 9MFY14 also receded 21.46% to RM47.77 million from RM60.82 million previously.

On outlook, Lysaght expects the market to remain "very competitive" and that it will continue to face stiff price competition.

"The management is studying ways to face these challenges ahead as best as possible," it said.

Lysaght shares have appreciated 33.23% from RM3.10 on Oct 23 to close at RM4.13 today, giving it a market capitalisation of RM171.1 million.
