KUALA LUMPUR: Insurer LPI Capital Bhd is one of the first Bursa Malaysia-listed companies to postpone its annual general meeting (AGM) amid the Covid-19 outbreak.

Its AGM was initially slated to take place next Thursday at Shangri-La Hotel Kuala Lumpur.

“The health and safety of LPI’s shareholders, staff and other stakeholders, who will attend the forthcoming 59th AGM, is the top priority of LPI. Hence, the board of directors of LPI hereby announced that the forthcoming AGM will be postponed to a later date,” LPI said in a bourse filing yesterday.

This follows the announcement by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin on Monday that a movement control order will be imposed from today until March 31 to contain the virus outbreak. The World Health Organization last Wednesday declared the Covid-19 outbreak a pandemic.

“The board will closely monitor the development of Covid-19 and LPI will send out a new notice about the AGM and make further announcement in due course,” it added.
