KUALA LUMPUR (May 23): Lien Hoe Corporation Bhd announced the demise of its managing director Datuk Yap Sing Hock on Saturday (May 21).

In a bourse filing on Monday, the property and investment holding company said Yap, who passed away at 73, had helmed the group since 2002. 

“He started his career as a building contractor before venturing into property development in the Klang Valley and Johor Baru. He had also been active in real estate investment in Hong Kong and Singapore.

“In the absence of Datuk Yap, and with the succession planning in place, the management and operations of the group would be led by Christine Yap Tse Yeeng, the executive director and chief executive officer, assisted by the board and the management team. 

“The business and operations of the group will be run as usual,” it said.

According to the group’s website, activities of its subsidiary companies include the operation of hotels, building and civil works, property development and property investment.

At noon break, shares in Lien Hoe closed unchanged at 36 sen, giving it a market value of RM128.42 million.
