KUALA LUMPUR (March 15): Lay Hong Bhd said it is unable to quantify the amount of revenue loss arising from the suspension of its Jeram 1 farm, which tested positive for Salmonella enteritidis (SE).

In a filing with the bourse, it said the amount of lost revenue can only be estimated once the investigation by the Department of Veterinary Services (DVS) is completed.

Meanwhile, the poultry farm operator reiterated that all its other farms in Jeram, namely Jeram 2 to 6, have tested negative for SE, adding that these farms are divided into smaller satellite farms which are physically separate from one another.

It said its egg export business is handled by traders who act as intermediaries for the group and that Jeram 1’s produce is solely for export to Singapore.

In a statement yesterday, the group said no eggs will be sold from Jeram 1, and it will only resume the supply of eggs from the farm once the investigation is completed.

The group said it is offering its full cooperation and compliance to the DVS and will be working with the regulator to strengthen farm control practices and monitoring.

Lay Hong fell 0.5 sen or 1.4% to close at 35 sen, giving a market capitalisation of RM231.1 million.
