KUALA LUMPUR (March 23): Carlsberg Brewery Malaysia Bhd (Carlsberg Malaysia) has appointed Lars Lehmann as its managing director (MD) effective July 1, replacing Henrik Juel Andersen who will assume a senior position within Carslberg Group in Laos.

Lehmann is currently regional chief executive officer of Western Europe challenger markets at Carlsberg A/S.

“Andersen has made significant improvements in driving the Malaysia and Singapore operations, despite a more challenging operating environment in the last few years. His foresight and strong industry knowledge have helped the company to turn challenges into growth opportunities," said Carlsberg Malaysia chairman Datuk Lim Say Chong.

“He led the Malaysia and Singapore operations into sustainable growth in revenue and profits year-on-year,” he added.

Andersen will succeed Kissan Vongsay to become the MD of Lao Brewery Co Ltd (LBC) and will report to Carlsberg Group executive vice-president Graham Fawkes.

Carlsberg shares gained 40 sen or 2.95% to close at RM13.96 today, giving it a market capitalisation of RM4.28 billion.
