KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 10): Kumpulan Wang Persaraan (KWAP) has emerged as a substantial shareholder in BIMB Holdings Bhd, after acquiring an additional 1.5 million shares in the open market.

BIMB said in a filing today that KWAP purchased the shares last Friday (Dec 5), which has brought its total number of shares in the group to 68.43 million, which represents a 4.58% direct stake.

It also has deemed interest in 7.47 million shares or a 0.5% indirect stake.

Lembaga Tabung Haji remains the largest shareholder in the financial institution, with a direct shareholding of 54.43% or 812.90 million shares.

As the biggest fund management company of the country, Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB) has a 5.12% stake or 76.43 million shares in the company.

BIMB's share price gained 2 sen or 0.48% to close at RM4.22 today, giving it a market capitalisation of RM6.27 billion.
