KUALA LUMPUR (July 21): The FBM KLCI trimmed some of itsgains at mid-morning today in line with the tepid regional sentiment.

At 10am, the FBM KLCI was up 0.13 points to 1,724.26. The index had earlier risen to 1,726.78.

The top gainers included Danainfra Nasional Bhd, United Plantations Bhd, Panasonic Malaysia Manufacturing Bhd, APM Automotive Bhd, Guiness Anchor Bhd, Cocoaland Holdings Bhd, Power Root Bhd, Heveaboard Bhd, MISC Bhd, Sasbadi Holdings Bhd and Genting Bhd.

The actively traded stocks included Nexgram Holdings Bhd, APFT Bhd, Karambunai Corporation Bhd, AirAsia X Bhd, Vsolar Group Bhd and JCY International Bhd.

The decliners included Lay Hong Bhd, Pharmaniaga Holdings Bhd, Time Dotcom Bhd, Hong Leong Bank Bhd, Westports Holdings Bhd and PPB Group Bhd.

Asian shares got off to a wobbly start on Tuesday, while gold prices steadied after plunging more than 4 percent to five-year lows in the previous session, according to Reuters.

MSCI's broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan opened flat, and was struggling to gain in early trade, it said.

Hong Leong IB Research said despite diminishing international noises, Bursa Malaysia is expected to continue its sideways trading mode in the near term amid the prolonged domestic headwinds.

“Near term key resistances are 1738-1746 while supports fall on 1685-1700,” it said.
