KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 23): The FBM KLCI is expected to sustain some of its pre-holiday gains today in line with the higher overnight close at Wall Street.

The index could however trade range-bound despite the good showing at most global markets as domestic news flow may not be sufficient to lift gains very much.

Bursa Malaysia will be closed Thursday and Friday to observe the Maulidur Rasul and Christmas holidays, and will also have a shortened trading period next week with the New Year holiday next Friday.

Wall Street climbed on Tuesday, buoyed by energy shares as sliding oil prices stabilised and by fairly healthy data on U.S. economic growth, while the dollar fell for a third consecutive session, according to Reuters.

U.S. crude prices settled up 0.9 percent to $36.14 a barrel. Brent fell 0.6 percent to $36.13 a barrel, after trading higher earlier in the session, it said.

Based on corporate announcements and news flow yesterday, companies in today (Wednesday, Dec 23) could be YTL Power International Bhd, Gas Malaysia Bhd, Magni-Tech Industries Bhd, Aeon Co (M) Bhd, Eversendai Corporation Bhd, Subur Tiasa Holdings Bhd, Mudajaya Group Bhd, Maxis Bhd and Malaysia Marine & Heavy Engineering Bhd.
