KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 19): The FBM KLCI stayed listless at mid-morning today in line with the subdued regional markets.

At 10am, the FBM KLCI rose 1.13 points to 1,623.77 points.

The top gainers included British American Tobacco (M) Bhd, Mercury Industries Bhd, Ta Ann Holdings Bhd, Apollo Food Holdings Bhd, Top Glove Corporation Bhd and Scientex Bhd.

Asian stocks were subdued early on Tuesday following a retreat in European shares overnight, while crude oil prices remained bearish following the lifting of sanctions against major producer Iran, according to Reuters.

Asia had no leads from Wall Street as the US markets were closed on Monday for Martin Luther King Day, it said.

Hong Leong IB Research said focus today is the release of China's 4Q15 gross domestic product (consensus 6.8%), industrial production, fixed asset investment and retail sales data.

"Despite anticipating near-term external volatilities, we remain cautiously optimistic of 1,600 psychological support. Near-term resistances are 1,642–1,674," it said.

The valuation score determines if a stock is attractively valued or not, also based on historical numbers. A score of 3 suggests strong fundamentals and attractive valuations.)
