KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 28): The FBM KLCI drifted marginally lower in early trade this morning, weighed by index-linked plantation stocks.

At 9.05am, the FBM KLCI shed 1.94 points to 1,688.78.

The early decliners included PPB Group Bhd, Kuala Lumpur Kepong Bhd, Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd, Scientex Bhd, Sime Darby Plantation Bhd and BIMB Holdings Bhd.

Asia stocks inched higher on Friday after Wall Street ended volatile trade in the green, adding to the massive gains of the previous session although lingering investor jitters helped support safe-haven currencies such as the yen, according to Reuters.

MSCI's broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan rose 0.15 percent. It has fallen almost 4 percent so far in December, it said.
