KUALA LUMPUR (March 25): The FBM KLCI lost 0.49% at mid-morning today, as the local market took a pause in line with the weaker sentiment at most global markets.

At 10am, the FBM KLCI dropped 8.4 points to 1,707.13.

The top losers included Public Bank Bhd, Time dotCom Bhd, Selangor Properties Bhd, PPB Group Bhd, IOI Corporation Bhd, Kuala Lumpur Kepong Bhd, UEM Edgenta Bhd, Hartalega Holdings Bhd, Bursa Malaysia Bhd, Genting Plantations Bhd and Malaysian Pacific Industries Bhd.

The actives included AirAsia X Bhd, Comintel Corporation Bhd, Minetech Resources Bhd, Iris Corporation Bhd, Daya Materials Bhd and Bioalpha Holdings Bhd.

The gainers included Comintel, Scientex Bhd, SCGM Bhd, Press Metal Bhd, Syarikat Takaful Malaysia Bhd, Superlon Holdings Bhd, Hap Seng Consolidated Bhd and UMW Holdings Bhd.

Hong Leong IB Research said that technically, the FBM KLCI was still on course to retest its envisaged 1,727 (R1) and 1,744 (R2) upside targets in the medium to long term as the uptrend channel remains intact.

"Nonetheless, the brief pullback over the last two days has weakened the technical and we anticipate a pause in momentum to digest the overbought position.

"Key supports are 1,685–1,700," it said.
