KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 2): The FBM KLCI added 0.36% in the mid-morning today, tracking gains in regional markets following the firm overnight close on Wall Street, while technology-related stocks on Bursa Malaysia also advanced.

At 10am, the KLCI was up 5.54 points at 1,526.56.

Gainers led losers by 420 to 370, while 377 counters traded unchanged. Trading volume was 3.75 billion shares valued at RM1.13 billion.

The top gainers included Malaysian Pacific Industries Bhd, Kwantas Corp Bhd, Panasonic Manufacturing Malaysia Bhd, Hong Leong Bank Bhd, KESM Industries Bhd, Subur Tiasa Holdings Bhd, PPB Group Bhd, JF Technology Bhd and Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank).

The actively traded stocks included Pasukhas Group Bhd, Trive Property Group Bhd, MQ Technology Bhd, DGB Asia Bhd, Vsolar Group Bhd, Bumi Armada Bhd, Sapura Energy Bhd, Velesto Energy Bhd and JCY International Bhd.

The decliners included Hartalega Holdings Bhd, Kossan Rubber Industries Bhd, Top Glove Corp Bhd, Kumpulan Powernet Bhd and Heineken Malaysia Bhd.

Bloomberg said Asian stocks climbed in early trading today after another record high for their US peers as tech shares advanced and investors snapped up work-from-home winners.

JF Apex Securities Research said US markets advanced overnight with the S&P and Nasdaq hitting record highs again after better-than-expected manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) data.

It said that earlier, European stocks ended mixed after inflation came in below expectations.

“On the local market, the FBM KLCI lost 3.78 points to 1,521.43 points.

“Following the positive performance of Wall Street, the FBM KLCI could stage a rebound with support at 1,510 points,” it said.
