KUALA LUMPUR (April 28): Khairy Jamaluddin has denied a claim, which made its rounds on social media, that a group of employees of Genting Group were ordered to be vaccinated under his orders.

In a statement, the Science, Technology and Innovation Minister said the recipients grouped under Phase 1 of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme is in accordance with the list of frontliners as issued by the Covid-19 Vaccine Supply Access Committee (JKJAV) on March 1, 2021.

Under Phase 1, appointments for vaccination are managed by the State Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF), based on lists prepared by the state.

“However, several States were under the impression that they could commence vaccinations for other groups after vaccinating those under Phase 1.

“In Pahang’s case, the State CITF had decided to vaccinate workers in the tourism sector, involving 56 hotels in Kuantan, Genting Highlands, Cameron Highlands, Jerantut, Raub, Mentakab, Bentong, Bukit Tinggi and Bukit Fraser,” said Khairy.

He said that Pahang made the decision after the State had completed first dose of vaccinations for all recipients listed under Phase 1.

The Federal CITF only found out about the State CITF’s decision after they had commenced vaccination for the these groups, added Khairy.

Following this, he said he had written to the Pahang State government to make it clear that the listing of early vaccine recipients is under the jurisdiction of JKJAV.
