KUALA LUMPUR (April 22): Kiplepay Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Green Packet Bhd, recently teamed up with the Coalition of Malay Small Traders Association (GPPPKMM) to launch a ‘Warong Digital e-Bazaar Ramadan’ programme.

Launched on April 16, the ‘Warong Digital e-Bazaar Ramadan’ programme is meant to enable small traders and local hawkers to operate their businesses online throughout the month of Ramadan, which is expected to begin on April 24.

In a joint statement today, they said the programme has received an overwhelming response from local traders as it will help them to generate income during the fasting month.

Presently, the current number of registrations in ‘Warong Digital e-Bazaar Ramadan’ programme is just about 25% of over 20,000 local bazaar traders, said GPPPKMM secretary-general Mohamed Zamri Mohamed.

“In these coming few days, we are expecting to see a sharp increase of at least 50% more in terms of the number of registrations since we have more than 20,000 traders who do business in the bazaar,” he said.

According to the statement, the programme uses Kiplepay’s e-wallet, which allows local traders to conduct online transactions and provides a cashless experience for customers.

Customers need only download the e-wallet app, pre-order from the app itself for collection and delivery.

The usage of the app conforms with social distancing practices as it eliminates cash transactions and on-premises waiting time, providing peace of mind and convenience to merchants, delivery riders and consumers alike, said the statement.

“The joy of having our favourite delicacies with our family members especially when breaking fast is indescribable. Although there will be no physical Ramadan bazaars this year, we strive to bring this tradition to all Malaysians by extending our solutions to help the local community to thrive because we know that nothing is more important than celebrating this moment with your loved ones,” said Kiplepay chief executive officer Kay Tan.

“In light of the current situation, we are extremely honoured to partner with GPPPKMM to continue supporting the local and small traders by assisting them to do business online and making ends meet. Through this initiative, a collaborative ecosystem is created between the traders and customers where all Malaysians can continue the Ramadan tradition merrily despite that we are keeping to the Movement Control Order,” added Tan.

At 2.19pm, Green Packet traded down 0.5 sen or 0.95% at 52 sen apiece, with 479,700 shares traded. It had a market capitalisation of RM478.05 million.
