KUALA LUMPUR (July 15): Kinsteel Bhd’s share price rose as much as 2.5 sen or 9.09% today ahead of the signing of an agreement to revive and transform its loss-making Kemaman Plant in Terengganu.

At 9.44am, 10.9 million Kinsteel shares were traded. It is the top active stock on Bursa Malaysia so far.  

Kinsteel will be officially signing a conditional master framework agreement with Chinese conglomerate TianJin Zhi Yuan Investment Group Co. today, to transform the plant into a profitable metal-steel related manufacturing plant.

The investment group has more than 2,000 employees over 50 branches and subsidiaries mainly located in China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, South Africa, Mexico and Canada.

Kinsteel’s 31.25%-owned associate Perwaja Holdings Bhd had also risen by 64.7% to 28 sen from 17 sen in mid-June. Perwaja shares has been suspended today and will be open for trading tomorrow.
