KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 29): Budget 2022 is set to build back Malaysia as it moves further forward towards increasing normalcy and greater certainty, said Khazanah Nasional Bhd managing director Datuk Amirul Feisal Wan Zahir.

Amirul Feisal said that both Budget 2022 and the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP) come at a time when Malaysia and the rest of the world are beginning to emerge from the global Covid-19 pandemic.

"As the saying goes, in every crisis there is opportunity, and Budget 2022 represents a seizing of the moment and the opportunity to build back Malaysia as we move further forward towards increasing normalcy and greater certainty," he added in a statement.

Amirul Feisal said that in line with the 12MP, Budget 2022 is a comprehensive approach in driving strong and sustainable recovery for the economy whilst providing broad socio-economic inclusivity and social protections.

"This can be seen via its priority placed on healthcare and education infrastructure on one hand, and on investments in digital infrastructure and digital connectivity on the other.

"This approach will help ensure that the entire Keluarga Malaysia, from individual citizens to business entities, emerges stronger together," he added.

Amirul Feisal said Khazanah and its investee companies look forward to playing their part in delivering the initiatives in Budget 2022 such as Jalinan GLC to strengthen micro, small and medium enterprises, the Malaysia Short-term Employment Programme (MyStep) and PerantiSiswa Keluarga Malaysia.

He added that Khazanah remains committed to realising the goals of Perkukuh Pelaburan Rakyat (PERKUKUH) and to driving catalytic investments through the RM6 billion Dana Impak fund.

"All in all, Budget 2022 promises to speed up Malaysia's economic recovery and to strengthen economic resilience as the nation gradually reopens its economic and social sectors.

"Budget 2022 measures, along with 12MP policies, lay the foundation for Malaysia to grow into a competitive, inclusive, and sustainable economy in the long term," Amirul Feisal said.
