SHAH ALAM: Former menteri besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim raised eyebrows at the Selangor assembly sitting yesterday with his abrupt exit before his successor, Mohamed Azmin Ali, tabled the state’s Budget 2015. Abdul Khalid, who came under scrutiny over the RM2.5 million in severance payouts for his aides, left the building here at 11am, halfway through question time.

The Malaysian Insider had reported that RM2.27 million in compensation and RM376,000 in lieu of three months’ notice was allegedly paid to Abdul Khalid’s eight members of staff. The highest amount of RM695,400 was allegedly paid to Faekah Husin, former chief executive officer of state-owned Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI).

Mohamed Azmin had admitted elements of wrongdoing in the matter and said MBI would discuss the next steps to be taken after its new management is sworn in next month. — The Malaysian Insider
