KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 11): JT International Bhd (JTI) announced that it will increase the cigarettes prices of all the brands that it carries, which will take effect tomorrow (Sept 12).

In a press statement today, the cigarettes manufacturer disclosed that cigarettes prices of all the brands that it manufactures and distributes would be increased simultaneously, with cigarettes in Mevius range and Salem range to be increased to RM13 per pack.

Wiston range cigarettes would be priced at RM11.50 per pack, while Camel’s at RM12 per pack for filter and RM13.50 per pack for non-filter, it said.

In the same press statement, JTI Malaysia managing director Robert Stanworth said, “It has become necessary to increase our prices, in view of the rising cost of doing business and the continued downtrend in legal volumes.”

Stanworth added, “We remain committed to invest in product quality and innovation, in order to meet consumer expectations.”

He said the company has always focused on delivering quality and innovation in all its products.

Earlier, British American Tobacco (M) Bhd had on Monday increased its cigarette prices by RM1.00, for both its premium and value for money (VFM) brands. The company also said the price increase is due to rising costs.
