JOHOR BAHRU (April 10): The Sultan of Johor Sultan Ibrahim Almarhum Sultan Iskandar has called on "certain parties" to stop making noise and bickering on politics but instead concentrate on efforts to look after the country.

The Sultan said in a statement which was uploaded in the official Facebook page of the Sultan of Johor today: “I am now abroad but will always follow developments in the country especially on the State of Johor through reports by all quarters.

“I will make the best decision in the interest of my subjects when the time comes.”

He also urged "certain quarters" to stop meddling in the State's affairs.

"With regard to Johor, don't meddle in the State's affairs because this sovereign State still has a Sultan,” he said.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad announced the resignation of Datuk Osman Sapian as the Johor Menteri Besar effective on April 8, Bernama reported.

Osman, 67, was the 16th Menteri Besar of Johor and was believed to be Johor’s shortest serving Menteri Besar having been in office for less than 11 months after taking his oath of office on May 12 last year after the victory of Pakatan Harapan in the 14th General Election.
