KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 6): The driver for Jepak Holdings Sdn Bhd's managing director Saidi Abang Samsudin told the High Court today about delivering bags of cash to Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor's aide Datuk Rizal Mansor in 2016 and 2017.

Shamsul Rizal Sharbini, 42, who is the prosecution's fourth witness, said at the end of 2016, he drove his boss to the Pavilion Kuala Lumpur mall at Bukit Bintang here to deliver two bags to Rizal.

Before they went to Pavilion, Saidi instructed him to drive them to Pertama Complex, where he purchased two black luggage bags.

Then, he drove them to Maybank Medan Tuanku, and Saidi brought the bags with him into the branch.

"Saidi came back with the two bags about 15 minutes later and the bags were placed at the back.

"As Saidi was about to enter into the car, a Malay man who appeared to be an armed policeman entered the vehicle. Saidi whispered to me 'if anything happens, we are dead', and told me he does not know this person.

Shamsul said they were asked to go to Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, and upon arriving, he was then told to remove the bags from the trunk.

However, the witness could only carry one bag at a time as they were very heavy.

"As I lifted the bag, Rizal arrived, and Saidi, Rizal and the armed man walked together. Later, I saw the two bags later being placed in a black Toyota Vellfire car," said the witness, adding he cannot remember the car's registration number.

At the end of 2017, Shamsul and Saidi went to Rosmah's residence at Jalan Langgak Duta here to deliver two more bags containing cash that Saidi had also withdrawn from the same bank branch.

"Before going to the bank, Saidi asked me to buy two bags. I went to Jalan Chow Kit to purchase the bags that cost RM45 each.

"I then went to the bank and saw money being counted and later was asked to put the money in the bags," he said.

The witness then entered Rosmah's home and put the bags in the living room, where he saw Rosmah's former aide.

"I heard Saidi asking Rizal where is ma'am, and Rizal replied that she is upstairs. I understand 'ma'am' referred to Rosmah," the witness added.

He said he cannot remember the exact dates he delivered the money, only that the drops took place at the end of 2016 and 2017 respectively.

Shamsul also verified pictures of Rosmah's Jalan Langgak Duta residence taken by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission witness Mohd Redzuan Othman as the second place he made the cash delivery.

The witness was cross-examined by Rosmah's lawyers, but nothing substantial emerged.

Yesterday, Maybank officer Azimah Aziz, who was the third prosecution witness, testified that Saidi had withdrawn RM5 million on Dec 19, 2016 and another RM1.5 million on Sept 6, 2017.

Rosmah has claimed trial to charges of soliciting RM187.5 million from Jepak to secure a solar hybrid energy contract for rural schools in Sarawak worth RM1.25 billion, and receiving RM6.5 million cash in bribes.

The hearing continues on Monday before Justice Mohamed Zaini Mazlan.
