KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 28): QSR Brands (M) Holdings Bhd, the franchise owner of KFC and Pizza Hut restaurants in Malaysia, has appointed Tan Sri Jamaludin Ibrahim as chairman with effect from tomorrow.

In a statement today, QSR Brands said that prior to this appointment, Jamaludin's last executive position was at Axiata Group Bhd, where he retired on Dec 31, 2020.

Jamaludin said in the statement today it is a great responsibility to be appointed chairman of QSR Brands, which is also the franchise owner of KFC restaurants in Singapore, Brunei and Cambodia. QSR Brands also owns the Pizza Hut restaurants' franchise in Singapore, according to the statement.

"I look forward to partnering with the managing director Nehchal Khanna, the board and the team at QSR Brands to further transform and solidify our position as the leading food chain brand that is entrusted to feed the hearts and minds of Malaysians and our customers in the region," Jamaludin said.

According to QSR Brands' statement, Jamaludin is a member of Malaysia's Economic Action Council besides the country's Digital Economy and Fourth Industrial Revolution Council.

"With over 40 years of experience, Jamaludin's wealth of knowledge includes about 16 years in IT and 23 years in telecommunications, in addition to being involved in various capacities in the education sector," QSR Brands said.
